Mapguild's CS2D Mapmaking Contest 2012
CS2D News
2012-05-13 at 5:06 PM - united
maPmaker, mastermind behind mapguild, is now organising a map making competition with a rather juicy prize: a 3 months CS2D server.

Last year, if I'm not mistaken, CS2D World had organised two of these events which didn't really end up as expected. This time, mapguild is attempting to organize a contest which promises to be really interesting and fruitful if people decide to participate. It will be divided in three stages with the last one ending on the 28th of May. Different tasks and objectives will be given to each contestant in the different stages and they will have to comply with them good enough to satisfy the jury.

If everything goes on well then a lot of good maps should come out so we wish good luck to both the organisation and all of the participants !

PCS Project coming back once again - once and for all ?
CS2D News
2012-05-12 at 1:25 AM - united
In the last few days the PCS Project, which had gone inactive about a month or so ago, got reorganised and renewed with a neat and fresh new homepage.

To get top-notch information on the issue we decided to sit down with the two figures behind the project, GSG9 and CoSmo, and they said the following:

GSG9 & CoSmo interview... +-

- What happened with the old PCS, why did it go inactive ?

GSG9: PCS went inactive cause of problems with our Anti Cheat program "Guardian", which we wanted to fix before we go on with our tournaments. Unfortunately TMK the programer from Guardian got not enough time to fix this problems in a short period.

CoSmo: PCS Project was in a bad state. Mostly because of the tournaments that had suddenly ceased. The reason was that the Guardian, the PCS anticheat, had, first of all, some bugs that caused problems and protests from a part of players, till its full crack due to a crash of TMK's files (Guardian's Creator). Since the only thing that mattered for everyone about PCS was its successful and interesting tournaments, it was a natural consequence the less and less visiting of PCS forum. But everything will be changed.

- How do you plan on re-organising it back so that it works even better than before ?

GSG9: First of all we finished our mainpage "www.pcs-project.eu", where everyone can read news about pcs and it´s tournaments. Allso you have a overview about all played matches. Next thing is that we cleaned up our forum and created a list about future tournament ideas in the 2 categories Fun Tournaments and Professional Tournaments. More information about them can be read in the PCS news

CoSmo: First of all, GSG9's efforts leaded to a new, official PCS site, called PCS Project Main Page (www.pcs-project.eu). Coded by himself, and template creation made by the artmind of xeNi, this site not only offers a more professional tone to PCS Project, but also : enables the Admins to create articles and news, there's a shoutbox (except the one in PCS Forum) for all players, there's a section of the site named Clan Area, where under request a Clan can be put there (something like CS2DWorld Project's and E-CS2D's) and of course all the players from which they all composed, and many more. Except the completely new Main Page, we decided that there should be a complete reorganization of PCS Staff, too. First of all, we cleared all PCS usergroups (can be see in PCS forum) by leaving only some PCS Server Admins still there, because they have shown good dedication in maintaining PCS servers clear, and Tournament Admins such as Milriko and Sz3L3k. Also, except the position of PCS Head Admin of GSG9, i was given the title of PCS Admin, since i have put a lot of effort in it, many people trust me, and i love this game, wanting to bring him again to its former glory. Of course we cant handle all this difficult tasks, thats why we aim to recruit some responsible people for the PCS staff in the future. Moreover, we started to organize tournaments again, the main duty of PCS. The first one is a 3x3 CS2D Soccer Cup, an idea that seems funny and interesting on same time. Hopefully it will be a success, bringing joy to the players that participate it. Also, there will be many more tournaments soon. Except the help of some dedicated players that will cooperate with us in PCS managing, we hope that a lot of players will follow PCS Project, making it active and worth to visit. Because a Community is its Users, dont forget it.

- Do you think your community will have to compete against E-CS2D ?

CoSmo: I seriously believe that that would be a bad thing. Lately CS2D has lowered of interest, and all Communities that try to stand strong out there should not have rivalry with each other, rather than help one another to achieve more goals. Of course, some healthy competition between Projects only boosts their contents that lead to higher standards.

- Is PCS now going to host tournaments with lag compensation which are intercontinental-friendly ?

CoSmo: It is in our plans. Since PCS Project should be a world-known Community, we have to make actions to attract more non-european players, too. Except WCL (where the it isnt sure if there will be any lag comp.) we promise that we will try to host the next International Championships of CS2D [ICC] as well as a variety of other competitions and cups (an example can be a Capture the Flag Cup, which i have personally in my mind) that will be intercontinental-friendly.

- What anti-cheat will you guys use ? Have you thought about using CheatGuard ? What do you think about it ?

CoSmo: PCS' official anti-cheat is Guardian, as mentioned before. We had some problems with it, but it should be fixed soon (depends on how fast TMK will resume it). About CheatGuard, well, it may be an option. We will see. If time passes and Guardian still isnt ready, we will find eventually some alternative.

- Where do you guys see the community in one year time ? Will PCS still exist ? Will CS2DWorld still exist ? Will new generations make it through or will the game slowly start dying ?

CoSmo: Now thats a difficult question ! It's hard to see the near future, what to tell about a year later? You never know what the future await us. Better not make plans for long to come dates. I see it this way. I strongly suppose though, that with the right work and with the decent people assisting these communities, two of the main CS2D Communities will still be there. There's a lot of work to do of course, but once you pursuit something, if you dont give up, the results will come. Not beeing pessimistic, but i see less enthusiasm in this game than in the past. Less clanwars, more flaming, less clans that survive lot of time. CS2D is not in a good shape. I'd suggest unrealsoftware and DC to support more this game's affiliates and make actions to serve it and increase its popularity. We as common players of it will try our best to make it great once again. But we need help. Hopefully, we are not alone.gain. But we need help. Hopefully, we are not alone.

This gives us a lot of things to talk about from both the present and the future and maybe even events that happened in the past and helped, in some way, to lead us to where we are currently standing as a whole. Hopefully all of the communities trying to breath onto CS2D's body trying to bring it back to life succeed and are able to bring out a lot of exiting content, tournaments, competitions and who knows what !

Registrations open for ICC v3
Tournaments
2012-05-03 at 10:36 PM - united
Just after the second edition has announced it's champion, registrations for the next ambitious edition of this juicy tournament have been opened until the 11th.

After a quite successful last edition, the tournament launches another one. Organised by the same people, Milriko and Xerionn but this time hosted by the European-CS2D Community (E-CS2D).

Rules are basically the same as the previous tournament with the difference that each and every single player that will be signed up will have to be registered on E-CS2D's site.. The map-pack, rounds and other regulations are the same as before and the anti-cheat program to be used will be CS2DWorld's CheatGuard which was also implemented on the last edition.

Hopefully we will be able to see another successful tournament as well as an exciting growth in both size and quality regarding the community. Good luck to the organisation and everyone willing to register their clans !

After |Storm_PL| and ofP met on inferno and cpl_mill, Milriko's clan came out victorious 26-10 overall and won the first place whilst ofP took silver.

The final took part on last Saturday and it started of with |Storm_PL| rapidly winning inferno with no rounds lost. Second map, de_cpl_mill (euro version), saw a tighter fight with ofP leading 7-5 at the beginning but then they fell behind and lost 3-8 as terrorists. Sadly the match couldn't be streamed but you can still enjoy a few play-off games on our replays section.

As for the third place match, a misunderstanding happened and it couldn't be scheduled correctly. However, both Mindcore and UsK came to an agreement and, as no matches were to be delayed by a re-schedule, the match will be played this weekend on cpl_mill and arno.

Good luck to both clans fighting for the bronze and congratulations to |Storm_PL| for hitting gold and ofP for reaching the final and getting second place. Special thanks to Milriko and Xerionn for organising and running this tournament along CS2DWorld.

The registration for the second edition of the one versus one tournament organised by Quattro has just been opened !

This time the map will be cs_laska2, done by myself a long time ago. It's a simple and really small map which will put to test all of the skills of the participants. This time the tournament will use the Ice Climber Anti-Cheat instead of CheatGuard since it allows the organiser to check files faster rather than having to wait for reports from another person other than himself. The format will be the same as before, a randomized tree where you will be knocked-out if you lose.

Good luck to the organisation and all of the to-register players, let's hope it goes better than last time and even more matches are played !

ICC v2 Final Matches
Tournaments
2012-04-24 at 10:36 PM - united
After not even twenty days have passed, ICC v2 has already reached the last two matches of the tournament, seeing two polish teams fight for the first place.

First semi-final match was played by Mindcore and only for Polish were the polish team came out victorious after two maps. First one was de_cbble which started of with the best possible score favouring ofP with a 12-0 as T's which they then nailed down with a 1-4 as CT's, winning with a total of 13 rounds to 4. Second map was not easy at all for both teams. Pcs_aztec saw both teams win the CT side 11-1 which ended up in a 12-12 tie in total. Global result was 26-16 for only for Polish who advanced to the final.

The other match saw |Storm_PL| facing UsK on tuscanpod and nuke. Both maps were easily won with a score of 13-2 and 13-6 respectively. Total score ended up 26-8 for |Storm_PL| who advanced to the final to meet only for Polish once again and fight for the trophy which will, as almost all other tournaments, be white and red.

Both the final and the 3rd place match between Mindcore and UsK can be played until the 30th of this month. Hopefully both matches will be streamed and uploaded to the site.

Who do you think will take the gold?
Who do you think will come out victorious on the third place match and take a spot in the podium ?
Let us know !

The first edition of this tournament, which started not long ago, has already came to an end with WCL Champion Quattro standing on top.

Although small and with not that many big names, the tournament saw nine games played and six walkovers for either not playing under specified conditions or not even attending.
This was the first edition of a series of tournaments organised by Quattro in collaboration with CS2DWorld which we hope is fruitful and keeps growing and getting better known as time goes by.

Congratulations to the winner and thanks to all participants !

ICC reaches semi finals

Only the four strongest teams have managed to get this far but who will be the winner ?

First two quarter finals matches occurred between ofP facing USSR and |Storm_PL| #2 playing against Mindcore. On the first match, ofP took the game home quite easily, letting USSR win just 5 rounds in total on both maps: tuscanpod and nuke. Second match did also see a surprising result: Mindcore winning over |Storm_PL|'s second squad. Although the match was not easy at all, Mcore finally came out victorious with a score of 13-10 on nuke and an even closer 13-11 on daztec.

The other two matches saw two polish teams come out 'victorious' to face each other on the next stage. Storm_PL got a walkover from uLtimaTe who apparently didn't show up or lacked players. Another walkover happened on the last match of this stage and UsK advanced over the now disbanded DarkStars clan.

Now there are only four teams remaining. Mindcore will face only for Polish and |Storm_PL| will fight off against UsK. Will Mindcore prevent |Storm_PL| from reaching a final once again as they've been doing in almost all tournaments they've played ? Or will the trophy end up being white and red once more ?
